Georgia linebacker Cornelius Washington was suspended Sunday for at least two games following his arrest and charge with driving under the influence and speeding.
Coach Mark Richt said athletic association policy states that student-athletes will be suspended for at least 20% of their competitions following DUI arrests.
"It will be at least that," Richt said.
Washington's suspension will begin with this week's game at Tennessee.
The Commerce (Ga.) Police Department's incident report said Washington was stopped at 1:48 a.m. Sunday for driving a Dodge Journey at 92 mph in a 55 mph zone. The officer said in the report that the 22-year-old said he had been drinking, but "it had been several hours prior."
It says Washington failed a series of field sobriety tests and had a blood alcohol reading of 0.12% on a breath test. The legal limit in Georgia is 0.08.
The report said a 20-year-old female passenger in the car's front seat also was arrested for underage consumption of alcohol. She had an alcohol reading of 0.176.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Department said Washington was booked into jail overnight Sunday and released on a $3,500 bond.
Washington recorded two sacks and four tackles in Georgia's 24-10 victory Saturday over Mississippi State.
Arizona State wins
Cameron Marshall bulled his way to two touchdowns in the second half and Arizona State overcame four turnovers to keep Oregon State winless with a 35-20 victory in a Pacific 12 Conference game in Tempe, Ariz., that ended late Saturday night.
Arizona State (4-1, 2-0) had turnovers on its first three possessions to fall into a 13-0 hole before gathering itself in what was expected to be a rollover win.
Brock Osweiler threw both of his touchdown passes after a shaky start and Jamal Miles had Arizona State's first punt return for a touchdown since 2005 to put the Sun Devils up eight at halftime.
Oregon State (0-4, 0-2) pulled within one on James Rodgers' five-yard touchdown reception before fading, unable to tackle Marshall on touchdown runs of 37 and eight yards.
Sean Mannion had 341 yards and a touchdown on 40-for-66 passing, but had four passes intercepted to prolong the Beavers' worst start since 1996.
Osweiler finished 24 for 37 for 258 yards, but had four turnovers ? two on interceptions by Jordan Poyer in the first half ? and was sacked four times.
