EUGENE, Ore. ? USC and Oregon are two teams going in opposite directions in the Pac-12 standings, and the journeys continued Thursday night.

Garrett Sim scored 20 points and Oregon made five 3-pointers in the second half to hold off the Trojans, 65-62.

Devoe Joseph added 16 points and Olu Ashaolu had 11 for the Ducks (14-5, 5-2 Pac-12), who have won three in a row and are off to their best start since going 18-1 in 2006-07.

Maurice Jones scored 20 points for the Trojans (5-14, 0-6), who haven't been winless this deep into conference play since opening 0-12 in 1989. Dewayne Dedmon added a season-high 18 points and seven rebounds for USC.

Jones was 9 for 23 from the field and missed a game-tying 3-point attempt with five seconds left.

"Anyone with a green light like that's very hard to guard," Sim said of Jones.

Oregon led, 30-28, at halftime and never was able to build more than an eight-point lead in the second half.

"We found a way to win and that's always important," Oregon coach Dana Altman said. "It's hard to play well every night and we didn't offensively play well tonight."

Said Sim: "We're definitely feeling more confident."

The Ducks were up just 56-54 with 2:40 to play following a three-point play by Dedmon. But Joseph responded with a 3-pointer to make it 59-54, and Oregon closed it out by hitting six consecutive free throws in the final 1:40.

"We've been shooting free throws pretty good," said Altman, whose team was 19 for 24 from the line. "They've been rock solid."

Joseph scored 12 of the Ducks' final 17 points after being held to just four points during the first 32 minutes. Joseph reached double-figures in scoring for the fifth consecutive game. It was the 12th time in 13 games Joseph has gone for 10 or more.
